FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT WAXING
What is the ideal length of hair for waxing?
If you have previously shaved, I recommend two- three weeks' growth or the size of a grain of rice.
What do I need to do to prepare for a waxing appointment?
To best prepare, gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before, avoid lotions or oils the day of your wax, and wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you are getting your face waxed, (i.e, brows, lip, chin…etc) and are using a Retinol, please discontinue about a week in advance.
If you plan on working out or sweating BEFORE your appointment, I will provide a sanitizing wipe to use before waxing. Please use this to remove sweat and oil that are on your skin to help the wax adhere better and make your appointment go quicker.
If you do not handle pain well, you are encouraged to take Tylenol before the appointment for your comfort. Do NOT drink alcohol due to it causing blood to thin.
Avoid caffeine before the appointment, it will make your nerve receptors more sensitive and make the process more painful than it needs to be.
What do I need to do post waxing?
For the first 24-48 hours avoid pools, saunas, hot tubs, tight clothing, anything that could make you sweat. If you are having a brazilian service, abstain from friction causing activities.
After 24 hours, clients may shower in Men’s temp water, NOT Satan’s hellfire water that we ladies like, and exfoliate again. Move in circles, but make sure your rotation ends going down to the floor to prevent ingrown hair.
If you have had issues with in-grown hair, you may purchase a cream that will help to reduce in-grown hair after waxing.
If on Retinol, wait about 7-14 days, depending upon skin type, before reintroduction.
What exactly does a Brazilian cover?
A Female Brazilian covers the pubic mound, labia, bikini line and butt strip. A Male Brazilian covers the pubic area, testicles, penile shaft, groin and butt strip.
What types of wax are used?
I will be utilizing hard wax and soft wax. Hard wax will solidify on its own creating a strip to pull. This type of wax is great for sensitive skin or delicate areas of the body, (i.e: facial areas and labia). It is also used to clean up hair that was left behind from soft wax. Hard wax also ONLY adheres to the hair and will not stick to skin if no hair is present.
Soft wax needs to be removed with a muslin type strip. This wax does not harden at all and will also exfoliate your skin. Soft wax is used in larger areas of the body, (i.e: legs, arms, chests, backs, underarms…etc.), but can also be used on the pubic area, bikini/groin, and butt strips.
Can I get waxed while pregnant?
Yes! Many pregnant clients wax right up to their due date. Just let your esthetician know so we can ensure your comfort.
Can I get waxed while on my period?
Yes, but your skin may be more sensitive. Please wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment.
